Mission
Did you know that if you are a Baptist Woman you belong to a big Baptist Family?
The Baptist World Alliance Women's Department is composed of 7 Continental Unions representing 229 National Baptist women's organizations from 130 countries. Australia belongs to the South West Pacific Continental Union (BWUSWP) along with New Zealand, Fiji, Papua and Irian.
We belong to a large family of Baptist women and support each other through prayer, finances towards specialized projects and friendship. All over the world many of our sisters are persecuted because of their faith, undervalued because they are women, or do not have the financial means to be resourced for ministry. Australian Baptist Women partner with Baptist Women across the world and connect with them for support and strength.

Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer Program
 |
Each year in November our women all around the world set aside time to come together to pray for each other. A specific country is chosen for focus on prayer and projects and all offerings are directed to these specified projects. A suggested program is provided for all with resources to help you create a memorable and exciting time for your women’s day of prayer.

2010 PROJECTS
Women Empowerment Project
Eastern Region of the Baptist Women’s Union of Africa
Project: An adult literacy project for women in the Sudan, Burundi and Uganda.
This project will minister to human needs by helping women to develop and exercise their gifts in order to build a better world. It will also help the women to know that they are created in the image of God. This comes under the strategic area of women’s development.
The Australian Baptist Women Emerging Leaders Project
Project: This project will help to nurture, network and equip an emerging generation of Baptist Women Emerging Leaders.
The goals are as follows:
• To nurture and develop emergent leaders within the Baptist community.
• To network our Baptist women leaders with Baptist and teaching communities.
• To equip women leaders with coach/mentors which model and multiply leaders.
• To encourage church ministers to identify emerging leaders.
Deborah’s House Project – Women’s Association of the Northern Baja California Mexico
Deborah’s House provides programs and workshops aimed at preventing domestic violence, counseling for individuals and families, and shelter for women who need to escape situations of extreme danger. The shelter is capable of housing as many as eight families at a time, which may stay there for as long as six months. During their stay, the women are given counseling, access to legal ssistance, medical checkups and workshops on parenting skills, self-esteem, nutrition, health and job skills. Most of all, the ministry provides a refuge for them, where they will not be put down or made to feel bad, where they can begin to heal deep psychological wounds and begin to live again without fear. The ministry aims for every resident, both women and their children, to know God’s love and his grace for their lives. The ministry offers bible studies and the opportunity to become part of a nurturing church community, but are most concerned that in the house we have created, they are able to tangibly experience the good news of Jesus Christ in the actions we take as well as in the words we preach. The project will contribute to leadership development of women, as well as minister to human
needs. This is a part of the strategic area social ministry as it is a ministry designed to create awareness of and to meet specific human needs.
