In a period of deeply challenging social isolation such as this, many people may consider questions of meaning, belonging and connection to something larger than themselves. Some may be contemplating the presence or existence of God and others could be returning to, or continuing, their practices of spiritual or religious faith, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this light, we explore Australians’ views, attitudes and beliefs about God and Jesus. Do they view Jesus as real, divine or resurrected? Our 2019 Australian Community Survey results show varying levels of belief in both God and Jesus, even amongst Christians.
We hope these findings help you to better understand and connect with your friends, family and local community, as you engage matters of hope, belief and religious faith in these times.
