The National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Bill was passed by the Federal Government and will come into effect from1st July 2018. People who experienced institutional child sexual abuse will be able to apply to the scheme to make an application for redress.

The National Council of Australian Baptist Ministries at their meeting in May has decided to encourage each State and Territory Baptist association and affiliated organisations to opt into the Scheme individually, and is setting up national structures to support the involvement of Baptist ministries in the Scheme.
